Change

The word is CHANGE for 2017. 

2016 taught me a lot. God has really spoken to me throughout this year. There have been some ups and downs in this year, but it has been in those up and down moments that I have seen a lot of what God is doing in my life. 

The weeks leading up to Easter this year were amazing in the area that I serve in at my church, and Easter weekend was totally phenomenal.

But that wasn't where I learned the most.

I learned a lot toward the end of the summer about what God is doing in my life. There was a lot going on in my life over the summer, and I could just quit and given up on God and everything. But I saw what that did to other people. My hard time was not a time to desert God, and I am glad that I didn't. 

I kept moving forward trying to see what God could show me through all of this. The lessons that I prepared for the fourth and fifth grade students at church in July, August, September and October were some of the hardest that I have ever written. The topics of those lessons included Faith, Courage and Trust. 

These topics were spot on! I needed to teach them. I needed to study them. They were some of the best lessons that I have ever done. 

The dam might have broken open in some areas of life the first half of this year, but restoration happened during the second half.

The picture below tells me a lot. We are all together and being watched by God

God is watching over all of us! He has a plan for all of our lives!

Eyes Up - part 5 - Patience

I know I do and that is why I find it hard to give advice on the topic. This is why I’m not giving advice. I’m going to let God do that. Eyes Up - part 4 - Peace

So in this series of posts we are looking at a few of those kind of things and trying change our focus to the One that can give us true help with these things. We have been focusing in on Psalm 121:1-2 for this “Eyes Up” refocus. The psalmist realized that there is really only one true source of help and refocused attention to that source. Maybe it was a task you were working on and one of your kids (or spouse) come into the room or called out to you from another place in the house causing you to turn your attention from what you were doing to them or their calling out. Then you look back at your task and have to remember where you were or what exactly you have done. Did I add salt to this? Did I put in the sugar for the cookies? How many cups of flour did I put in the mixing bowl already? You get the idea. Have you been there? There are times in life when we can be the same way. We are going along in life - our day to day activities - our gaze is laser focused on Jesus.
