Father vs. Father

This was the original post for Sunday. But I posted "Blank Page" instead.

 You're no good
Nobody loves you
Nobody cares
You are just going to be alone
You just keep driving people away
Why did you even try to stop that addiction you know you can't
You're worthless
You are what they tell you
God doesn't care
You just keep making the same mistakes
Look what you did you looked at porn again
Told you that you couldn't beat the addiction
Well look at that you're drunk again
You're never going to be anything but an alcoholic
Keep doing it people don't care anyway

Lies.

Those are lies from the father of lies, Satan (John 8). That is who he is.

All Satan wants is to make you believe the opposite of what God wants you to believe. All Satan wants to do is mess with your head.

This is what God, the Good Father, says about you.

I love you
I care about you
I am always there for you
I will never leave you
I think the world of you
I know you can beat this
I love you too much to leave you in a mess

“So we say with confidence,
‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:6, NIV)

I love those verses. Even though we do mess up, God comes along beside us and tells us "It's ok child of mine, I love you still. Keep going!”

Don't believe the crap that Satan says! You aren't what he says.


You are what God says! He is a good, good Father, and that is who He is.

“...where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord.... Psalm 121:1-2 NIV Ahhhh..... patience. That’s it. That’s all I have for this post. Anyone suffer from a lack of patience? I know I do and that is why I find it hard to give advice on the topic. This is why I’m not giving advice. I’m going to let God do that. I want to draw you attention to Exodus 14 for this week’s post. Moses has already been summoned by God to go back to Egypt and free the Israelites from Pharaoh. After much talking, plagues and stubbornness - Pharaoh lets the Israelites go. Moses leads them out of Egypt and they get as far as the Red Sea. Meanwhile, Pharaoh has changed his mind and is in hot pursuit of them. The people begin to grumble at Moses because of their situation. So in this series of posts we are looking at a few of those kind of things and trying change our focus to the One that can give us true help with these things. We have been focusing in on Psalm 121:1-2 for this “Eyes Up” refocus. The psalmist realized that there is really only one true source of help and refocused attention to that source. Maybe it was a task you were working on and one of your kids (or spouse) come into the room or called out to you from another place in the house causing you to turn your attention from what you were doing to them or their calling out. Then you look back at your task and have to remember where you were or what exactly you have done. Did I add salt to this? Did I put in the sugar for the cookies? How many cups of flour did I put in the mixing bowl already? You get the idea. Have you been there? There are times in life when we can be the same way. We are going along in life - our day to day activities - our gaze is laser focused on Jesus.
