One Year

There are some exciting changes coming. One of those changes is that I am going to be doing a short post for the videos that we also do through this ministry. If you didn’t know about the videos – check out the information at the end of this post. There are also NEW links at the top of this page.

Last year at this time I posted my very first blog post here. At that time the blog was called “Breathe”. I had a lot of overflow from what God had been teaching me over the summer of 2016. God showed me a lot and I needed a place to put it all. So I sat down and started to unload my mind and the blog was born. I just wanted to give the people who read my blog and little breath of God to start, end or lift their day. This is still true today.

I am sharing the different things that God has taught me, things I have discovered along my journey with God, and things I have learned through others. Over the last year, we have had many different posts on many different topics. We even went through the book of Joshua!

I want to leave you with the following verses. These verses were the verses of the day on the Bible app a few days ago. I read them then and thought that they were good verses. But as I was looking for a verse to add to this post, these verses came to mind again. So I re-read them and saw what Paul was really saying. 

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:6-7. NIV

Paul was inviting his readers to abide in Christ (John 15). As I read the verses again, I began to think – “That’s what I want!”

I want to be rooted, built up, strengthened and overflowing in Jesus – He is the source of life!

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6, NIV

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. – Colossians 3:4, NIV

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. – 1 John 5:20

I feel that these are two good verses to grasp onto over the next year. I believe there are great things for us if we seek after what Paul is encouraging in these verses.

Eyes Up - part 5 - Patience

“...where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord.... Psalm 121:1-2 NIV Ahhhh..... patience. That’s it. That’s all I have for this post. Anyone suffer from a lack of patience? I know I do and that is why I find it hard to give advice on the topic. This is why I’m not giving advice. I’m going to let God do that. I want to draw you attention to Exodus 14 for this week’s post. Moses has already been summoned by God to go back to Egypt and free the Israelites from Pharaoh. After much talking, plagues and stubbornness - Pharaoh lets the Israelites go. Moses leads them out of Egypt and they get as far as the Red Sea. Meanwhile, Pharaoh has changed his mind and is in hot pursuit of them. The people begin to grumble at Moses because of their situation. Eyes Up - part 4 - Peace

“...where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord.... Psalm 121:1-2 NIV There are just some things that we need help with and that is just a fact. So in this series of posts we are looking at a few of those kind of things and trying change our focus to the One that can give us true help with these things. We have been focusing in on Psalm 121:1-2 for this “Eyes Up” refocus. The psalmist realized that there is really only one true source of help and refocused attention to that source. The topic of today’s post is one that is really only found in Jesus. Peace. What is that anymore? Maybe it was a task you were working on and one of your kids (or spouse) come into the room or called out to you from another place in the house causing you to turn your attention from what you were doing to them or their calling out. Then you look back at your task and have to remember where you were or what exactly you have done. Did I add salt to this? Did I put in the sugar for the cookies? How many cups of flour did I put in the mixing bowl already? You get the idea. Have you been there? There are times in life when we can be the same way. We are going along in life - our day to day activities - our gaze is laser focused on Jesus.
